Oven racks can become covered with grease, grime and bake on food when not cleaned regularly. Read on to find out how to get them clean and shiny again.
You’ll need to give the racks a good soak in hot water and washing up liquid to loosen the grime. If you don’t want to use a bathtub or don’t have big enough plastic box there are ‘oven rack soaking trays’ you can buy. Leave it soaking for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Scrub the oven racks with a scourer to remove grime and grease, baked on food can be also removed using an old toothbrush. For stubborn areas add salt to the toothbrush which makes it more abrasive.
Don’t forget to rinse the oven racks thoroughly before returning them to the oven.
